Western Digital announces the first 2 TB Hard Drive, this is comes to boost the Data Storage to a new level. WD20EADS is able to hold up to 571,000 digital photos, up to 500,000 songs (middle bitrate), up to 50,000 songs (uncompressed CD quality), up to 150 hours of Digital Video (DV), up to 880 hours of DVD quality video and up to 240 hours of HD video.
The Hard Drive comes with many Western Digital technologies making it ideal for environmentally friendly PCs and external storage requiring lower power consumption and cool, quiet operation.
The WD20EADS with capacities up to 2 TB is a good solution for multimedia, gaming and storage-intensive programs and space-hungry operating systems, like Windows Vista®, or the coming Windows 7®. Another attractive point on that drive is the silence due to GreenPower™ technology offers lower operating temperatures for increased reliability: The WD 2TB Caviar Green has a power dissipation of 6.00 Watts(Read/Write) and 3.7 Watts when it is in Idle status.
According to Western Digital, the WD20EADS uses the StableTrac™ technology which reduces vibration by securing the motor shaw at both ends, permitting accurate head tracking during read and write operations. The WD's IntelliSeek™ which calculates optimum seek speeds reducing then vibration, noise and power consumption. Western Digital has added to those technologies the IntelliPower™ technology which improves the WD20EADS's spin speed, transfer rate and caching thanks to a new algorithms designed to deliver both significant power savings and solid performance.
THE CAVIAR GREEN 2TB WD20EADS hard drive, uses the SATA interface offering transfer rates of up to 3 Gb/s, Its length is of 147 mm, its width is of 101.6 mm and it weights 0.73 kg.
