
Intel® Corporation has launched a new processor: “The Core i7 Processor Extreme”, it turns at a clock speed of 3,33 GHz and it supports the 64 bit PC architecture too. According to Intel this is “The highest performing desktop processor on the planet”.
This Intel processor comes with many technologies such "Intel Virtualization Technology", "Enhanced Intel Speedstep Technology", "Intel Quick Path Interconnect (QPI)", "Error detection using CRC and correction using Link Level Retry", "Intel Smart Cache"…
The Core i7’s cache memory is of 8 MB using level 3 cache system and comes with 8way cache associativity providing an improved cache bit-rate on load/store operations.
In addition, the Core i7 Extreme has enough power management capabilities such the multiple low-power states and energy saving.
Intel Core i7 Extreme processor can be mounted on a motherboard that features 3 memory channels and DDR3 (including 800MHZ and 1066MHZ speeds), the memory DIMMs per channel must be at least 512MB, 1GB or 2GB. We want to notice that Core i7 Extreme is able to handle up to 24GB of system memory.
